Massage Courses for beginners, therapists & health professionals
Learn massage in Edinburgh in individually tailored informal massage courses or one-off tuition sessions.
Whether you are completely new to massage or are a qualified therapist or health professional, Matthew will provide you with tailored one-to-one massage tuition / massage training / massage courses.
BYOB (‘bring your own body’): a friend or partner who is happy to be demonstrated on.
For beginners, Swedish Massage is the place to start. You will learn how to apply the right pressure to give a massage that is safe, relaxing and effective. Matthew’s courses cover whichever areas interest you: back, neck, head, arms, hands, glutes, legs or feet. If you have a friend or partner who would benefit from regular massage, Matthew will show you some techniques that you can safely use to help them.
Matthew will explain relevant anatomy and the science behind massage therapy. He uses a full-size skeleton and muscle diagram to help explain how the body is structured.
You will be surprised at how much you can learn during focused one-to-one massage training / massage tuition sessions. This is a good starting point if you are considering doing a formal accredited massage course elsewhere in Edinburgh (eg Scottish Massage Schools).
If you already have a Swedish Massage or Sports Massage qualification, Matthew can teach you new ways of assessing joints. This will identify muscles that are causing pain or restrictions. Furthermore, he can show you techniques to target these muscles with immediate results. Treatment techniques may include deep tissue massage, muscle energy techniques and trigger point therapy.
